Jobs up for grabs as Minnesota Vikings visit Buffalo Bills

There will be plenty of interesting story lines as the Minnesota Vikings visit the Buffalo Bills in their second preseason game.

There will be plenty of interesting story lines as the Minnesota Vikings visit the Buffalo Bills in their second preseason game.

The Minnesota Vikings travel to Ralph Wilson Stadium to challenge the Buffalo Bills in their Week 2 preseason matchup. Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m. CT. Minnesota starters are expected to play into the second quarter, although so far running back Adrian Peterson has not suited up.

Things to look for

Chemistry and rapport

It will be imperative for quarterback Christian Ponder to establish chemistry with his receiving threats, including wide receivers Cordarrelle Patterson, Greg Jennings, and Jarius Wright and tight ends Kyle Rudolph and John Carlson.

This game will give us a chance to see what kind of relationship Ponder has been able to forge on the field with his weapons. Can he trust them to run their assigned routes and be where he is throwing it on time? Can Ponder actually put the ball where it is supposed to be with any degree of consistency?

Defensive question marks

Cornerbacks Xavier Rhodes and Josh Robinson and linebacker Desmond Bishop will all be getting extended playing time tonight. It will be interesting to see if Bishop shows up to play, because quite frankly, he only has two or three games to prove he even belongs on this team, much less be a starter. I want to see the Vikings use Cook and Rhodes at the line of scrimmage in press coverage, so we can get a good idea of what they have to offer.

Key positional battles

Minnesota has plenty of players vying for roster spots. At outside linebacker, Marvin Mitchell seems to have the spot locked down. Can either Bishop or Gerald Hodges make a move to take the job from him? The No. 5 wide receiver job seems to be coming down to either Adam Thielen or Joe Webb, both of whom have been making phenomenal catches in practice and made a few good grabs last week against the Houston Texans. I still give Webb the nod over Thielen because he’s bigger and more physical and can be used as an emergency quarterback.

ie hershal walker trade: Seventeen years later, the trade was still an easy target for satire: one ESPN columnist, assessing the impact of free agency on the NFL, noted that it had almost entirely replaced significant trades and by doing so "took away one of the greatest shortcuts to becoming a Super Bowl champion: fleecing the Vikings."[5]

I was wondering to myself if the Packers would accept the trade of Rudolph, Harrison Smith, Kalil, the 3 first rounders from the Vikes draft this year, and Min's first 2 picks of the next 2 drafts for Aaron Rodgers.

Here's some information in my own words:

Kansas City Royals infielder Miguel Tejada has been suspended 105 games after testing positive for an amphetamine in violation of Major League Baseball's drug program.

The suspension of the 2002 American League MVP is effective immediately, the Office of the Commissoner announced Saturday.

Tejada's ban is the third-longest non-lifetime suspension handed down by MLB, behind Alex Rodriguez's pending 211-game ban and Steve Howe's 119-game sanction in 1992.

Yahoo Sports! reported Tejada's suspension comes after the 39-year-old twice tested positive for Adderall.

...because they made it there a lot.

(Don't want to confuse Lions fans.)

@smtate91 That puts QBs like Freeman at an advantage with guys who produce consistently like Brees. Freeman occasionally hits the long bomb, so it's not a huge hindrance to start him with a system like this.

@_MKE_It's very offensive minded, that's for sure. It will make players from teams like the Saints most valuable.

@jmac3444

...or overexcite Packer fans who already have their team going 19-0.

@buildingwithclay @jmac3444 @Buhlitz also trading him to a division rival and giving minny a great shot at a sb would cost thompson his job plus what message are you sending to the other players in the locker room?

@buildingwithclay @Buhlitz the vikes also would have no wrs except jennings who kind of burned bridges with arod and they would lose their LT which would kill their oline

@Buhlitz @buildingwithclay They don't if they have a solid D. But if they made that trade, they would have an elite O instead of a well rounded decent team.

We saw how far a well rounded decent team gets last season.

Need either an elite offense or a very good offense and a very good defense or an elite defense and an ok offense.

@Nonstopdrivel @natradamus once someone on your roster gets injured- then you can add him to IR and pick someone else up without having to drop another player

@Nonstopdrivel @smtate91 I get the rewarding for long bombs and stuff, but 40 points seems quite extreme. One bomb and you score more than a great game without a bomb would.
