Sits and Starts: Andy Reid will make himself feel right at home in Philly
- Updated: September 19, 2013
Again, to help you all out, we are going to shy away from the obvious picks. We have posted the detailed set of rules to which we will hold ourselves over on Pro Football Nostradamus (PFN), Robert’s personal website. To sum it up briefly, all of our “Starts” for QB, TE, or D/ST will be ranked outside the top 12, while our RB and WR “Starts” will be ranked outside the top 24. Conversely, our “Sits” for QB, TE, or D/ST will be ranked within the top 12 and within the top 24 for RB and WR. We use ESPN’s Fantasy Football player rankings found here.
Remember, only my side of the challenge will be posted here at Water Cooler Sports. Robert’s half of “Starts and Sits” will be published in parallel over at PFN.
Year to date
Check out our picks from last week.
We got killed last week. We’ll make up for it! Starting now!
Jay Cutler @ Pittsburgh Steelers (ranked 21st)
Sure, safety Troy Polamalu will probably sack Jay Cutler as soon as he makes the snap. But I think head coach Mark Trestman will have a special gameplan for the Steelers. I don’t think this grandpa team will be able to keep up and adjust to it. (16 fantasy football points)
Alex Smith @ Philadelphia Eagles (15th)
Smith thrives in this Andy Reid offense. You had better believe Reid has something nice planned for the Eagles and these fans that will for some reason still boo him. (16 ffp)
Joique Bell @ Washington Redskins (27th)
It didn’t take long for injury concerns to arise with Reggie Bush. Will he play? I think so. But Washington’s defense has been poor so far and Bell has impressed even when Bush plays. (16 ffp)
Pierre Thomas vs. Arizona Cardinals (44th)
I’m betting New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton acts like the good offensive coach we know he is and realizes that Pierre Thomas is the best running bacck to carry the rock for this team. Still, between Darren Sproles and Payton’s stubborn determination to run Mark Ingram, I have to keep my expectations in check. Even so, I think the Saints get their first rushing touchdown of the year here. (12 ffp)
Torrey Smith vs. Houston Texans (29th)
With running back Ray Rice injured, the Baltimore Ravens will need to throw often. I bet quarterback Joe Flacco can hit Torrey Smith once for a bomb. (9 ffp)
DeAndre Hopkins @ Baltimore Ravens (33rd)
Andre Johnson, Arian Foster, Ben Tate — the Ravens must defend all these guys. DeAndre Hopkins has taken advantage and will continue that trend. (13 ffp)
Tyler Eifert vs. Green Bay Packers (17th)
The youngster has shown he can make some plays, and I think the Cincinnati Bengals will have to throw often. With wide receiver A. J. Green taking all the double coverage and Jermaine Gresham still the No. 2 recieving option, Eifert will take advantage when given the chance and the chances will come in this matchup. (8 ffp)
Atlanta Falcons (24th)
Yep. Even with all the injuries, I still like the Falcons in this game. Miami may be 2-0, but they really have not been impressive. Atlanta may not get much of a pass rush, but their secondary has been impressive. With Ryan Tannehill at quarterback, I like the matchup. (6ffp)
Kansas City Chiefs @ Philadelphia Eagles (26th)
They continue to prove me right. Let’s go with them three weeks in a row. Andy Reid’s homecoming will be a wakeup call for Eagles head coach Chip Kelly. The fans will quickly turn from booing Reid and Donovan McNabb to booing their team. Brutal fans. (5 ffp)
Michael Vick vs. Kansas City Chiefs (4th)
Donovan McNabb won’t be the only Eagle quarterback booed tonight. (14 ffp)
Alfred Morris vs. Detroit Lions (6th)
Morris got something going vs. the Green Bay Packers, but this Lions front seven is much better. Washington’s poor defense will have Robert Griffin III throwing a lot. (8 ffp)
Vincent Jackson @ New England Patriots (10th)
Jackson has caught 12 of 24 targets this year. With a Patriots struggling on offense, I think this’ll be a low scoring game. As running back Doug Martin goes, so go the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Here comes another disappearing act. Vincent, vanish! (I don’t blame Jackson. He has to play for Greg Schiano.) (7 ffp)
Jason Witten vs. St. Louis Rams (2nd)
One thing St. Louis has is a strong front seven with good linebackers. The secondary is weak. Dallas Cowboys wide receivers Dez Bryant and Miles Austin with be the beneficiaries this week — not Witten. (4 pff)
Cleveland Browns @ Minnesota Vikings (11th)
Even the front office doesn’t seem to care anymore. They trade their best offensive weapon and probably third-best player overall, running back Trent Richardson, just two weeks into the season. Tank incoming. (3 ffp)
and with this, im out to go watch hockey
My system and Deepcool agree on Phily tonight. My mind says no, pros say no, sentiment says no. But the two impartial numerical systems say yes. Mine even says they cover -3.
Rourke here? You can't comment on the new article...

@NightStalkerThief I prefer to let her get over that monthly thing. But if I am really horny I will go ahead. Many towels have died in that war.
@adambballn It looks that way but I don't think he is. He said he was leaving. There is something not right about it though. I did get a gameday chat embedded if people want to go over there.
